Security Certificate Error

When accessing RT, a message may be displayed indicating that there is a problem with this website's security certificate. The message specifically says, "The security certificate presented by this website was not issued by a trusted certificate authority; Security certificate problems may indicate an attempt to fool you or intercept any data you send to the server."

Resolution

By installing the UW Services CA certificate in your browser, you will be able to use secure UW Web sites with certificates issued by the UW Services CA without warning messages. UW has its own Certificate Authority, known as the UW Services Certificate Authority ("UW Services CA" for short), which issues digital certificates for UW services. To install the UW Services CA Certificate, please visit https://www.washington.edu/computing/ca/ and click the "Install the UW Services CA Certificate Now Button."

This certificate should now be automatically installed on all CSS domain computers. These steps are still required for non-domain computers.

Installing the UW Services CA on IE7 in Windows Vista

The Windows Vista® operating system requires manual installation of UW Services CA. Manual installation instructions are located at https://www.washington.edu/computing/ca/loadcert.cgi
