Basic Equipment Training Checklist

16mm Projector(M)

Bell & Howell Autoloader:

  • Film (Carrying case and canister, loading on projector)
  • Film Loading (Cut if necessary, insert, and pick-up reel)
  • Turning it on (Projection dial and sound dial)
  • Simulate Jam (Unthread and rethread manually)
  • Rewind function
  • Adjustable height foot
  • Lamp replacement (projection and sound)

Eiki Slot Loader:

  • Film (Carrying case and canister, loading on projector)
  • Film Loading (Insert, and pick-up reel)
  • Turning it on (Projection dial and sound dial)
  • Simulate Jam
  • Rewind
  • Adjustable height foot
  • Lamp replacement (projection and sound)

Telecine (MTV): Film (Carrying case and canister, loading on projector) Film Loading (Insert, and pick-up reel) Video and Audio connections Lamp replacement (projection and sound)

___ Slide Projectors (SA): All SA’s: Tray -Correct loading of slides -“Zeroing” (locking) of trays -Locking ring Projector -Slide eject/Tray release button -Slide Advance buttons -Focus knob and auto-focus -Lens removal and replacement -Power/projection switch -Remote control connection and operation


___ Overhead Projectors (SO): 3M 9800 (Ultra Bright): 2nd bulb switch Changing bulb -Check bulb code -Take care not to touch bulb itself -Double check placement in contacts Changing Mylar Reminder not to block fans/vents

3M 9200: 2nd Bulb Switch Changing bulb -Check bulb code Changing Mylar

___ Camcorders w/ Tripod (CRD): Tripod set-up and adjustment -Extending and securing legs -Adjusting angle, height, pitch of head -Attaching head to camcorder Camera set-up -Power cable and switch -Camera modes -Headphones (explain that they are necessary to monitor sound) XLR Adapter/MIC set-up -Attaches between camera and tripod -XLR or Stereo Mini input - MIC/Line level -Ground lift controls PZM MIC setup -Solid flat and quiet surface for MIC -Phantom power close to MIC (using 6 ft cable) -Plug into MIC input on XLR Adapter Line Signal -Explain need for attenuation of Line level signal -Adjustment of XLR adapter to accept Line level DVD Recorder (Recording option A) -Power cable and switch Connect -DV output from camera to input of DVDR -Recording speed and quality settings -Assuring "Sync" with camera -Initiating recording from DVDR Hard Drive Recorder (Recording option B) -DV output from camera to DV input of HDR -Recording speed and quality settings -Initiating recording from HDR

___ AMX: All AMX systems: Starting up the system Room controls (voice, lights, and screen) Selecting A/V device (input) -Device control buttons (audio, playback, etc) Selecting projection destination (no picture, large screen, TV-in MGH only) Video monitor (podium and booth) Booth audio monitor (in applicable rooms) Shutting down the system

___ MP3 Recorders (MP3): Marantz Portable: Plug in A/C adapter (located on left-hand side) Finding “Rec Out” from PA Using a XLR to RCA cable to plug into the Line In on RT (located on the right-hand side)

___ Video/Data Projectors (VP/P): For Video: Turn on VCR/DVD player Turn on projector if not already on Make sure the projector is set to "Video 1" Play video from VCR/DVD

For Data: Turn on Projector and set to "Data 1" Connect HD-15 Cable to Laptop. Make sure that laptop is plugged in using an A/C adapter Turn on laptop Use Fn key and appropriate F(#) key to adjust display modes Adjust resolution to 800 x 600 and 60 Hz if necessary

___ Basic PA Systems (PA): Power MIC/WMIC 2x2 Slide Outlets Aux In/Rec out Screen controls Light Controls Line vs. MIC level
