General Information

Classroom Support Services maintains three generally assignable computer classrooms in Mary Gates Hall that are specially designed to support computer-based instruction, experimental education, and student collaboration. The computer classrooms utilize Dell’s Flexible Computing Solution, which centralizes processing and storage resources by using Citrix On-demand Desktop Streaming and Microsoft’s Application Virtualization. No software is installed on classroom computers; All software applications are streamed to the classrooms from a central server located in Kane Hall.

Two 45 seat PC-equipped classrooms (MGH 030, 044) and one 25 seat PC-equipped classroom (MGH 058) are now available for rental through Classroom Support Services (classrm@u.washington.edu).

To schedule a quarter-long, credit-generating class in these spaces, please contact Room Assignments at times@u.washington.edu. Please be sure to contact Classroom Support Services well in advance of the start of the quarter with software installation requests. Software installation requests are considered on a case by case basis. Please review the Software_Installation_Policy article for more information.

Event Reservations

Reservations not related to UW classes will be handled just like any other MGH room rental with holds being placed "Pending Class Schedule" when classes have not been confirmed. Classes will take priority and are scheduled by Room Assignments. One week into the quarter, when classes have been finalized, these rooms may be rented on a first-come, first-served basis starting with reservations under a "Pending Class Schedule" status. To reserve a computer classroom or request additional information, please send an e-mail to classrm@u.washington.edu. Please make reservations requests at least two weeks in advance. OR, if different software is needed then installation media, licenses, and proof of ownership must be provided to CSS at least four weeks prior to use.
