Connecting from Off-Campus
Configure your home computer or laptop for using Remote Desktop
Follow these steps on your home computer or laptop to configure Remote Desktop connections to your CSS office computer:
- Click Start, Programs, Accessories, Remote Desktop Connection.
- Click the Options button.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Click the Settings button, found under “Connect from anywhere.”
- Enter SERVERNAME in the Server name box.
- Select “Use these RD Gateway settings.”
- Select Ask for password (NTLM) for Logon method.
- Check Bypass RD Gateway server for local addresses.
- Click OK to close the dialog box.
- Click the General tab.
- Type the Fully Qualified Domain Name of your CSS Workstation in the Computer box. For example, COMPUTERNAME.CSS.WASHINGTON.EDU.
- To save these settings for future connections, on the General tab, click Save.
Connect to your CSS office computer using Remote Desktop
Follow these steps to connect to your CSS office computer:
- Click Start, Programs, Accessories, Remote Desktop Connection.
- Enter the FQDN of your office computer, or select it from the drop down list.
- Click Connect.
- Login using your username + FQDN. For example, USERNAME@CSS.WASHINGTON.EDU.
Connecting from On-Campus
Connect to your CSS office computer using Remote Desktop
Follow these steps to connect to your CSS office computer:
- Click Start, Programs, Accessories, Remote Desktop Connection.
- Enter the IP Address of your office computer, or select it from the drop down list.
- Click Connect.
- Login using your username + FQDN. For example, USERNAME@CSS.WASHINGTON.EDU.
