Double Day, The
- 1975 ----- color ----- 54 min ----- 16mm
- Presents working women in Latin America and their efforts to achieve equality in the home and the workplace. Mexican factory workers, Argentine maids, Bolivian miners' wives, Venezuelan women speak out about their problems. Most combine their participation in the labor market with their family functions as wives and mothers, thus working a "double day." Interviews with these women deal with the effects of the social and economic system on their lives--their status on the job, barriers which they face in terms of equal wages and access to any but the lowest paying jobs, their family relationships and values, and the socialization process to which they are subjected from an early age.
