(Pioneer Quest: A Year In the Real West series, Part 3)
Imagine what it was like to be a pioneer in the old days. Living and working without the conveniences of the 21st century – no running water, no car… no tractor, telephone or air conditioning. Could you live that way? Would you want to try? Auditions for Pioneer Quest: A Year In the Real West took place during June 2000 and eventually brought together two couples to live on the prairies of Manitoba for one year as a pioneer would have back in the 1870s. There are two episodes on this tape:
- Episode 5--101 Chopping Days 'til Christmas (47 min) Winter arrives. Included are scenes of the couples preparing their homes for winter, building a pen for the animals, hunting, and dealing with the affect the weather has had on the crops. The Logies get a visit from family.
- Episode 6--No Way, We're Not Leaving (47 min) With winter comes snow and a modification to the horse-drawn cart. Each person comes up with ways to pass the time during the winter months. The Treadways face a health scare.
