Rx for Survival: A Global Health Challenge examines critical, worldwide threats from old diseases and bizarre new ailments resistant to modern medicine. The six-episode series profiles such diseases as Ebola fever, SARS, the West Nile virus, HIV/AIDS, and the avian flu. Included on this disk are- Delivering the Goods (54 min) Details some of the challenges involved in providing health care to different populations – residents of remote villages in Africa, people displaced by disasters (natural and otherwise) – as well as some of the solutions used to get around those obstacles.
- Deadly Messengers (54 min) Discusses vector-borne illnesses -- the treatment of patients as well as the difficulties in preventing others from being infected. Included are segments on West Nile Virus, malaria, and river blindness. (Restricted to use on University of Washington campuses only)
