Forced to stay with a poor Jewish family until her child is born, she comes face to face with the realities of different cultures, and finds herself transformed by the warmth and compassion of her hosts. Ultimately, she is forced to make the most difficult decision of her life: to rejoin her troops at the front or stay with her child.
