History of Animation*

- (Historical Collection) (Produced by Walt Disney Productions) In extracts from an earlier black and white television production "The Story of the Animated Drawning," Walt Disney discusses the history of animation. He illustrates how the first animations could be seen on the walls of the caves of Lascaux, later on the walls of Egyptian buildings and tombs. Walt even inducts Leonardo DaVinci into the Halls of Animation. He then traces the modern era beginning in France with Magic Lantern projections and continues on with J. Stuart Blackton and his "Humerous Phases of Funny Faces" in 1906, and Winsor McCay with "Gertie the Dinosaur". He includes a surprisingly short section on the development by the Disney Studio. (Opening credits missing and the technical quality is not the finest, yet we feel that this is an important historical film document) (Donated by the Puget Sound Educational School District) (Restricted to use by institutions of learning within the State of Washington only)
