A series of conflicts solidifies the power of the Toltecs for centuries in the Valley of Mexico. By 1300 A.D., a conquering nomadic people--who would become the Aztecs--arrive in the area. Their majestic city Tenochtitlan becomes the center of an empire. But in 1519, as Fernando Cortez came ashore under the Spanish flag, it was the beginning of the end. Leading armoured men with sophisticated weapons and thousands of Mexican allies, Cortez challenged the empire of the Aztecs. (Closed-Captioned)
