- (Directed by Robert Bresson, screenplay by Robert Bresson based on the memoirs of André Devigny; with Francois Leterrier, Charles Le Clainche, Maurice Beerblock, Roland Monod) A French Resistance activist is imprisoned by the Nazis and devotes his waking hours to planning an elaborate escape. "In this country, escape is a theme for action movies, but the French director, Robert Bresson, is famous for his uncompromising methods, and having been a prisoner of the Nazis himself, he is not disposed to treat his material--André Devigny's account of his escape from the Montluc fortress prison--lightly.
