- What is genetically based behavior and how does it differ from culturally based behavior? Research on newborn babies from different ethnic backgrounds indicates that there are standard differences in temperament or behavior and that such differences among humans are biological as well as cultural. Demonstrates some of the research results obtained from the application of the Cambridge Behavioral and Neurological Assessment Scales to normal newborns in hospital nurseries. Striking differences in behavior among ethnic groups--caucasian, Navajo, aborigine, African--show up in babies who are only a few days old.
