- (Directed and choreographed by Brian MacDonald; with Marie Baron, Eric Donkin, Henry Ingram, Richard McMillan) Brian MacDonald's stunning version of Gilbert and Sullivan's classic comic opera was a blockbuster hit at the Stratford Festival. Cloaked in the guise of a Japanese musical Drama, The Mikado is a spoof of Victorian English society. The plot involves a lowly tailors transformation from prisoner in a county jail to the rank of Lord High Executioner.
