Director Denys Arcand explores the complex and comic relationships among eight intellectuals brought together by their ties to a local university and their endless fascination with lovemaking. On the male side there's the womanizing Remy, the ever-brooding Pierre, Claude the homosexual and the innocent Alain. The women are amply represented by Remy's prim wife Louise, the kinky Diane, the inexperienced Danielle and the bitter Dominque. Throw in a rough-and-tumble biker and you have the makings for a weekend-long encounter session that will make you laugh, cry and gain a unique insight into the human condition.
