Crab Nebula, The
- 1974 ----- color ----- 58 min ----- 16mm
- (Nova series) Observation of the Crab Nebula began in 1054 when the Chinese witnessed and chronicled a "guest star" bright enough to be seen in the daytime for over three weeks. It was the explosion of a dying star bigger than our sun. Modern researchers from around the world are interviewed as NOVA retraces the deliberate and accidental discoveries that ensued from the exploding super nova and the subsequent formation of the Crab Nebula. It has offered us more knowledge about the origins and perhaps the ultimate destruction of the universe than any other single astronomical phenomenon.
