  • (National Dream, The: Building the Impossible Railway series, Part 2) Looks at the relentless pursuit of Macdonald and Cartier to preserve Canada through a railway. Sir Hugh Allan wants to help fund the project, however his sources seem shady and American--leaving the Conservatives with little choice if they really want a railway. However, there is no other way and, as a result, the worst scandal in Canada's short history occurs. The Pacific scandal is the downfall of Macdonald and results in the delay of the Canadian Pacific Railway.
