  • Burns Bog, the largest domed peat-bog on the West Coast of the Americas, lies 20 miles south of Vancouver and is a unique gem on the British Colombian landscape. A bog represents thousands of years of development and sustains an amazing variety of plant and animal life. A unique aspect of bogs is that the waters are made highly acidic by the sphagnum moss and there dead plant matter does not decay, but compresses to form a domed layer of peat.
