Shows how members of an indigenous family in Bolivia strive for economic and social advancement. While struggling to maintain separate cultural identity, the peoples of Haiti and the Dominican Republic exhibit contrasting attitudes toward their African roots. The Haitians fight the inference that their country is influenced by African heritage, while the people of the Dominican Republic embrace their African roots, saying that color doesn't matter.
