Phenomenon of Black Anti-Semitism, The (Hubert Locke)
- 1995 ----- color ----- 29 min ----- vhs
- (Upon Reflection series) Host Marcia Alvar speaks with Hubert Locke, professor in the Graduate School of Public Affairs, University of Washington, and author of The Black Anti-Semitism Controversy: Protestant Views and Perspectives. The Black and Jewish experiences have followed a common path over the past century including exodus from oppression and the struggle for civil rights. However, lately some Black leaders like Al Sharpton and Louis Farrakhan have begun a new trend called black anti-semitism. Locke argues that this phenomenon is not a national trend and that it is primarily focused in the New York area. They discuss the research methods that brought him to his final conclusion that problems between the two groups do exist, but they are isolated and cannot be asserted upon the entire Black community.
