- (Upon Reflection series) Host Marcia Alvar speaks with author Denise Chong about her recent book, The Concubine's Children. Ms. Chong discusses her family's history through the eyes of her mother who was the child of a Chinese immigrant and his concubine. She speaks of her grandfather's wife who lived on the Mainland and the two "branches" of her immediate family. The book also focuses on the lives of her grandparents as well as on the prejudices and hardships they faced. Ms. Chong also discusses her mother's childhood as well as her own and the realization of the prejudice that all of her ancestors faced.
