- 1995 ----- color ----- 28 min ----- vhs
- (Upon Reflection series) Host Marcia Alvar speaks with Paul Loeb, author of Generations at the Crossroads: Apathy and Action on the American Campus, and Al Black, Senior Lecturer in Sociology, University of Washington. They compare today's students, dubbed Generation X, to students of the past. Loeb feels that the current view of Generation X is too simplistic and cites examples he gathered from over 100 college campuses that he visited while researching his book. Black states that the apathy apparent in this generation can be traced to a lock of leadership from today's adults. Both discuss the ebb and flow of social movements and how today's students place a higher priority on securing personal success over involvement in social causes.
