- (Upon Reflection series) Host Marcia Alvar speaks with Stuart Scheingold, author and Professor of Political Science, University of Washington. Professor Scheingold explains how the issue of crime can have an influence on a political campaign. He points out how politicians put fear in voters' minds, the stereotypes of crime and race, and how the media sensationalizes crime. Dr. Scheingold explains how more education in the home, as well as a change in public discourse, should show a change in the attitude towards crimes and also in the crime rate itself.
