- (Upon Reflection series) Host Marcia Alvar speaks with Ningkun We, author of A Single Tear: A Family's Persecution, Love and Endurance in Communist China. After eight years in the United States, Mr. Wu Accepted a professorial post in his native China after the revolt against Chiang Kai-Shek. Two years later communism took over, Mr. Wu was denounced as a counter-revolutionary and spent the next twenty years in and out of work camps and jails. He discusses his story, the effects communism has had on China, and how the government attempts to control the intellectual community.
