- (Produced by Das Institut fuer den Wissenschaftlichen Film, Goettingen) The integument of the ovule of Jasione montana L. is t ransparent, permitting microscopical study of processes which occur in the living embryonic sac of intact ovules. Includes observations of the whole embryo sac and its individual cells before the fertilization, the manner of cell division in the endosperm, beginning with the division of the primary endosperm nucleus, the growth and first division of the zygote. Sequences of living preparations are complimented by animations representing the structure of the ovule and embryo sac as well as the fertilization process.
