- Uses animation to explain the process of birth and follows two couples who have very different experiences. The process of labor and delivery for one woman, having her fourth child, is completely unmedicated. For the other, a first time mother, labor is slow and difficult. Sequences describe false labor, lightening, the anatomy of the uterus and birth canal, the stages of labor, dilation of the cervix, breathing techniques, the importance of coaching and support, delivery of baby and placenta, routine hospital procedures to expect, the experience of an LDR, and some of the newer methods and technology available in many hospitals.
