Mexicans: Through Their Eyes
- 1992 ----- color ----- 57 min ----- vhs
- As the 20th century draws to a close, Mexicans are bringing to the world a new awareness of who they are. The history of the country beginning with Alvar Munez Cabeza de Vaca shows how the new nation was born out of Indian and Spanish worlds. Examines the fatal attraction of Mexico City where culture is created and politics are made and unmade. Touches on the lives, works and drives of artists including Homero Origes, Rufino Tamayo, and Los Folkloristas. Shows how The Day of the Dead mirrors the character of the people, a unique combination of Spanish Catholicism and pre-Columbian Indian beliefs.
