Professor Wagoner examines the role of poetry amongst the art forms, how it is on the cutting edge of language. He discusses the major influences on his life and work including his father and Theodore Roetke. He explains how difficult it is for the poet to be objective about his own work. He talks about his collection of tribal masks and the influence of nature.
