This Land Is Our Land: The Struggle for Land in Brazil

• In Brazil, young family farmers want to stay on their land. Some are the children of German and Italian immigrants who settled there at the turn of the century. They argue that family farms are in the best interest of the country. Some families are displaced by huge dams; others face bank foreclosures; still others camp out for years in plastic tents to pressure the government to release unused land owned by a small minority. Corporate and agribusiness interests are forcing farmers off their land, often with violence resulting in bloodshed. Contains stories of perseverance, courage and hope in the face of violence and overwhelming odds.
