All about a Hole in the World (Richard Rhodes)
- 1990 ----- color ----- 29 min ----- vhs
- (Upon Reflection series) Host Marcia Alvar speaks with Richard Rhodes, Pulitzer Prize winning author. Mr. Rhodes discusses his latest work, Hole in the World, about his abused and unhappy childhood. He admits that the work is a subjective account of how he grew up without his natural mother, was abused by a cruel step-mother and, as a result, saw the "world with a hole" in it. He claims that he was able to overcome his problems because of the help he received along the way. He concludes by theorizing that the world is both fatal and life-giving; there is an inherent tension between the two.
