Gannagaro: The Seneca Town of Peace
- 1986 ----- color ----- 28 min ----- vhs
- On the crest of Bare Hill, just north of the Finger Lakes in New York, archaeologists have uncovered the remains of Gannagaro, a 17th Century Senecan town. It was one of the four main towns of the Seneca, member tribe of the Iroquois League. Anticipating an attack by the French, Gannagaro was destroyed by its own people in the summer of 1687. Portrays the traditions of the Seneca, including the origin of the tribe, the "Three Sacred Sisters"--corn, squash and beans--and seasonal changes and festivals. Indicates the influences, bad and good, of the Europeans. (Donated by the producer, Alexandra Lewis-Lorentz)
