- (Nova series) Presents an investigative report on U.S. dependence on foreign sources for strategic minerals vital to aerospace and steel industries. Chromium, cobalt, maganese, vanadium and platinum are almost exclusively found in the Soviet Union and sub-Saharan Africa, leaving the United States, Europe and Japan dependent upon imports to sustain industrial production. Why these obscure minerals are important and what happens when they are unavailable are among the urgent international questions explored.
