- (Soviet Union series, Part 5) Amidst the highest mountains in Europe lies the Soviet Republic of Georgia, a land of spectacular beauty where villages are set in almost inaccessible valleys. People are content to live and work, as they have for centuries, in an area of small-scale farming where much of the produce and animals are privately owned, providing oportunity for a private income. It is populated by a fiercely independent people who have strong family loyalty and are determined to preserve their language and culture. The Georgians are a reminder that the Soviet Union is not one country but many.
