(Upon Reflection series)
Host Al Page speaks with Ishmael Reed, author and Visiting Professor at the University of Washington. They discuss the ways that prejudice can be dealt with, how news programs are directed towards the white middle class, and how this can be remedied by allowing and encouraging multi-cultural civil organizations to voice their views through all forms of media. Professor Reed believes that inter-ethnic brawls are sensationalized in the media while inter-ethnic cooperation is often downplayed or ignored and, therefore, viewers may maintain prejudices more vehemently than otherwise.
