Baka: People of the Forest
- 1988 ----- color ----- 59 min ----- 16mm
- The Baka, a semi-nomadic people, live in the rain forests of southeast Cameroon, a country on the west coast of Africa. More commonly known as pygmies (a name they do not like), the Baka have adapted to their environment to the point that they are in total balance with the rain forest. The life of one family is followed as they move through the seasons. One remarkable scene shows the father teaching his young son how chimpanzees use tools to obtain termites for food. Story-telling, songs, hunting and gathering, and trade with other tribes are shown in this extraordinarily photographed documentary from the National Geographic Society.
