(Directed by Vladimir Menshov; with Vera Alentova, Alexei Batalov, Irina Muravyova) Reminiscent of Hollywood's romantic comedies of the Fifties, this tale is about three country girls--serious Katerina who wants to be an engineer, irrepressible Liudmilla desirous only of finding a husband and shy Antonia who seeks happiness--coming to Moscow in 1958. Their fable continues twenty years later in 1978 tracing the results of their romantic and professional pursuits while providing a candid look at everyday life in contemporary Moscow.
