- Beautifully photographed, keenly observed look at Mardi Gras in New Orleans and the various musical traditions to which it gave life. Shows a jazz funeral, "practice" parades, a St. Patrick's Day parade in a white neighborhood and the preparation of several culinary specialties. Sequences explore the "Black Indian" tradition in which working-class Blacks compete with one another in dancing, talking and parading in spectacular hand-sewn Indian costumes of their own design.
