Plankton and the Open Sea (Second Edition)

- Almost no ocean creature could exist without plankton--the billions of tiny plants and animals drifting through the world's seas. Using photomicrography the differences between the plants, known as phytoplankton, and the animals, known as zooplankton, are shown. Phytoplankton plays a crucial role at the bottom of the ocean's food chain and serves as the major supplier of the earth's oxygen.
