Candid interviews record how once abusive parents lost emotional perspective and physical control when frustrated by their children. Self-help groups like Parental Stress offer environment that accepts without condoning, an atmosphere that is crucial to the reform of the violent-tempered. As parents learn to regard their children as people, not as devious enemies or reproachful victims, their new-found respect improves the family situation so that they can live with their children as well as themselves.
