- Arvit Leshabat, Hebrew for Sabbath Evening Service, is based on the text of the Sabbath Evening Prayer in the Jewish Prayer Book. Composed by Abraham Kaplan, the piece was commissioned by the Choral Society of Temple Emanuel in Paterson, New Jersey. The West Coast Premiere was performed on March 13, 1987, at Meany Hall by the University of Washington Symphony, combined choruses with guest artists, David Lefkowitz, tenor; Ruthanna Metzgar, soprano; and Marcia Bellamy, alto. This performance was conducted by the composer, currently Professor of Conducting, School of Music, University of Washington. (In Hebrew without English subtitles)
