Living abroad is a big adjustment. It takes a while to make friends, create a home and become effective at work. But coming home can be difficult too, even more difficult than the move abroad. Most returning families are not prepared for "reentry shock" or "reverse culture shock." Memories and myths of home are shattered. Families share how they overcame the difficulties of reentry into both the workplace and the community. Reentry is often the hardest part of an overseas assignment and cannot be overlooked.
