People everywhere speak English as their second language yet they do not speak the same variety of English nor do they speak it for the same reasons. Examines the different varieties of English spoken around the world and some of the reasons why so many people speak English. Explores how the English language continues to change as it absorbs new words and ideas from technology, business and popular culture.
