• (Walk through the 20th Century with Bill Moyers, A series, Part 3) The 20th Century began with enormous hopes for a future made safe and humane by technology. Although it has realized some of these hopes, the century nears its end under the shadow of super-weapons that threaten the earth itself with annihilation. Bill Moyers traces the evolution of three weapons that erased the difference between warrior and innocent civilian by mass-producing death--the machine gun, the submarine and the bomber plane.
