Growing Old in America, Part 3: The Search for Care
- 1985 ----- color ----- 59 min ----- vhs
- (ABC News Closeup) In the next 15 years, the number of Americans over 85 will double. Many of them will need long-term care. Families remain the primary source of support for these individuals, but this form of help puts great strains on both the elderly and their care-givers. Nursing homes are another option, yet they remain very expensive and cautious about taking on hard-to-care-for patients. Experiments are underway to find new answers for long-term care for the elderly. Hugh Downs reports. (Deposited by KOMO TV4) (Commercial messages are included.)
