Charles Ives: American Pioneer
- 1960 ----- b & w ----- 54 min ----- 16mm
- (Historical Collection) (New York Philharmonic Young People's Concert with Leonard Bernstein) Mr. Bernstein explores America's pioneer of modern music, Charles Ives. Born in the later part of the 19th century, Ives' musical output ceased before 1920 (except for a few songs.) Only now are we becoming aware of his sense of adventure and fun as a composer. Ives' works performed are: "The Gong on the Hook and Ladder or Firemen's Parade on Main Street," "Washington's Birthday," "The Circus Band March," "Lincoln, The Great Commoner" (sung by Simon Estes) and "The Unanswered Question."
