Master Musicians of Jahjouka
- 1983 ----- color ----- 58 min ----- 16mm
- Documents and preserves the rich musical history of the remote Moroccan village--Jahjouka. It is a village that has been unusually affected by the wave of Westernization that is sweeping less developed nations. The village musicians describe how the lame, the barren and especially the mad come to Jahjouka in hopes that the music and the special blessing of the village's patron saint will heal them. Since the 1960's, however, many famous Westerners have traveled to Jahjouka and the film shows how the musicians and their music has been affected by these visitors.
