- (Nova series) Looks at the current surge of cosmic discovery, as cosmic "archeologists" dig into the history of the universe, asking such questions as: is the universe expanding? Was there a big bang, and if so, can we extrapolate back to a time before it? How did such a variety of materials develop from the uniform and universal hydrogen? The answers to these questions are providing deeper understanding both of the cosmological past and its future.
