- Presents a novel approach to teaching music to children. Toronto composer-conductor R. Murray Schafer has seventh grade music students listen to all the sounds around them (even their own breathing), feet shuffling, bangles jingling and varied noises outdoors. From such basics children develop, quite spontaneously, an awareness of rhythm and musical phrasing and then go on to try their own composition.
