Volga, The

- A cross-sectional view of the Russian way of life is seen during a journey down the Volga. Enormous war memorials have been built to remind the Russian people of the devastation during the War and the horrors of the Battle of Stalingrad. Victory Day, May 9th, is remembered with ceremony in The Hall of Military Glory. Children learn to live in groups, learn to become "convinced collectivists." While the Communist Party has restored many of the Tzarist palaces, Lenin's various homes have become national shrines and his tomb in Red Square in Moscow has become a place for pilgrimage for the faithful Russian.
