- Every year the professors of MIT's Mechanical Engineering course, Introduction to Design, assign a different and original construction project which emphasizes creativity by asking students to design something not found in the "real" world. This annual project is the first mechanical design problem faced by the engineering students. The contest is designed to be a microcosm of a real mechanical engineering design experience; it involves design, construction, testing and a realistic evaluation of the design.
