(Directed by Carol Reed, screenplay by Graham Greene; with Joseph Cotten, Alida Valli, Orson Welles and Trevor Howard) To battered post-World War II Vienna comes Holly Martins, a naive American writer of Western novels, in search of a job promised him by his friend, Harry Lime. Martins is out of luck; Harry is being buried the morning Martins arrives in Vienna, due to a freak auto accident. Martins, unconvinced that his friend's death was not an accident, proceeds to try to discover the truth, with the help of Harry's "ex" girlfriend. All of the elements of expert filmmaking combine in this production to make this a true motion picture classic of tension, intrigue and suspense.
